VOLODYMYR YERSHOV To 65 anniversary

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Volodymyr Olehovych Yershov, a famous philologist, literary historian, Polonist, local historian, doctor of philology and professor of Zhytomyr State University named after Ivan Franko. The professor’s activity is marked on many levels and directions - Vladimir Ershov has numerous achievements in the field of science (he was recognized as the best scientist of Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University), education of culture and public activity.

The range of scientific interests of professor Yershov is surprisingly wide, but a special place among his research interests is occupied by Polish memoirs of the Romantic era (in particular, the works of Korostyshiv artist Gustav Olizar).

The professor marked a separate epoch in the history of Volyn Polish studies with his activity – this period is characterized by interdisciplinarity, high academic knowledge, scientific pedantry, attention to facts, spirituality of scientific research. Yershov’s philological school is characterized by accuracy in systematization of data and events, fidelity to the historical context, general cultural structure, historical, theoretical and empirical understanding of the culture of the Ukrainian Right Bank. An important goal of the scholar is to highlight in the domestic literary process the high canon of Polish-language Ukrainian classics in Volyn, Kyiv and Podillya.
