Article Formatting Requirements

 

The article template in .docx and .rtf formats can be downloaded via the link. The template contains all necessary formatting settings; authors should insert their text into the designated sections.

Below is a summary of the requirements reflected in the template.

 

Article title: 14 pt.

Abstract, keywords, and author information: line spacing 1.5; Times New Roman, 11 pt; margins (all sides) 2 cm; first-line indent 1.1 cm; justified alignment.

Main text: minimum length 12 pages; line spacing 1.5; Times New Roman, 12 pt; margins (all sides) 2 cm; first-line indent 1.1 cm; justified alignment.

Quotations should be enclosed in quotation marks “ ”.

In-text references should be given in parentheses in the following order: author’s surname, year, page number, e.g.: (Franko, 1986, pp. 251–253). The use of “ibid.”/“Ibidem” is not permitted.

 

Order of article elements:

UDC; author’s surname and initials; ORCID (if available); article title (uppercase, centered); abstract, keywords, author information, and email address (italic, justified alignment, single spacing, Times New Roman, 12 pt); one blank line; article title, abstract, and keywords in two additional languages (English and Polish); main text; one blank line; list of sources under the heading LITERATURE in alphabetical order; list of sources in English under the heading REFERENCES*.

Bibliographic references must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) Style, 7th edition.

 

 

*Rules for the English-language reference list: Ukrainian sources should be transliterated and accompanied by an English indication in square brackets. Polish and other sources written in the Latin alphabet do not require modification.

Example:

Franko I. (1986). Panshchyna ta yii skasuvannia 1848 r. v Halychyni. Zibrannia tvoriv u 50-y tomakh. Tom 47. (p. 7-122). Kyiv: Naukova dumka. [in Ukrainian]

If the article is submitted in English or Polish, only one reference list titled REFERENCES must beprovided. In this case, all sources must be presented in English in accordance with APA style 7.

Ukrainian-language sources should be transliterated into Latin script, with the English translation of the title given in square brackets.

 

Authors are reminded that abstracts and article titles in English and Polish must be professionally translated (machine translation is not acceptable).

 

 

IMPORTANT: Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy of quotations, names, dates, references, as well as grammatical and stylistic correctness. The editorial board reserves the right to reject submissions that do not meet the above requirements.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

The editorial staff of the Polish Studies of Kyiv insists on the observance of general copyright rules and does not accept materials containing elements of plagiarism or violating the non-property rights of authors of ideas and scientific discoveries that are covered in the material.

In order to avoid plagiarism, all materials are tested using services to determine the uniqueness of the text.

Only materials with a minimum of 70% of the uniqueness of the text are allowed to review.

According to paragraph 2 of Art. 19 of the Law of Ukraine On copyright and related rights Publishers of encyclopedias, encyclopedic dictionaries, periodicals, collections of scientific papers, newspapers, magazines and other periodicals have exclusive rights to use such publications in general. The publisher may, at any use of such publications, indicate in his name or require such an indication.

 

The editorial board of the «Polish Studies of Kyiv» supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

The materials of the collection «Polish Studies of Kyiv» are in the open (free) online access and can be distributed for scientific and educational purposes.

A prerequisite for the free use of materials is a link to the source and indication of authorship.
