IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LITERARY AND BIOGRAPHICAL COGNITIVE CONTEXT OF BRUNO SCHULZ

Abstract

The article presents a literary and biographical portrait of the main sources of Schulz’s movement, taking into account the latest developments in the outlined field by both Ukrainian and Polish Schulz scholars for novice researchers and those readers who are just starting to get to know Bruno Schulz or who only hope to discover this known in worldwide artistic name. Undoubtedly, the outlined problem needs working out thoroughly and in a certain way reconsidering, generalizing, supplementing, and updating, which indicates the relevance of the offered scientific research. The purpose of the study is to create a historiographical biobibliogram-recommendation of scientific and popular science studies of Schulz’s direction, taking into account the latest developments in this field. The article mostly deals with the original Ukrainian-language Schulz studies or works translated into Ukrainian by Polish Schulz scholars. When formatting the list of the most important books about Bruno Schulz, both retrospective and prospective historiographical research approaches have been used.

In general, the study presents the creative heritage of Bruno Schulz, which is currently used by researchers and admirers of Bruno Schulz; the translation discourse of B. Schulz is analyzed separately; the information, in particular, the most recent, about the main studies of Schulz direction is systematized and summarized, in a certain way the factual basis of previous studies in this context is expanded and corrected; the works about Bruno Schulz are presented in the modern (“top”) format of basic books about Bruno Schulz, which will be useful to everyone who is/will be interested in the figure and creative heritage of an outstanding world-class artist, as well as a promising (Polish-language) bibliogram of the most original works about the artist is offered. It should be noted that the implementation of such a context will contribute to a comprehensive, detailed understanding and a deeper, insightful understanding of the unique personality and creative heritage of the Polish-language writer of the Galician literary borderlands of the first half of the 20th century Bruno Schulz.
